Making film poems is an increasing part of the Caban Sgriblio offer, helping young people thrive in a digital age and find new ways of communicating through digital media. Pupils from local schools are learning to make film poems with professional film makers.
‘My favourite thing about poem club is film and filming, with Richard and Siôn because I want to be a film director when I’m older. But learning about poems still helps me because I’m normally not a poem person. But in the end one big THANK YOU for all your help and guidance’. T (11)
Last year, 15 young people from six participating schools in Tredegar took part in Caban Sgriblio. Over nine workshops the group used performance practice and creative writing exercises to explore their creativity and discover their unique voices. At the end of the project each child chose their favourite poem to perform to camera to create this brilliant and imaginative film, filmed by BAFTA award-winning Richard Greatrex.
